Webb City is a city located in Jasper County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,812.

Webb City is located at 37°8'40" North, 94°28'9" West (37.144458, -94.469249).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.3 km2 (7.4 mi2). 19.3 km2 (7.4 mi2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Webb City Demographics:

As of the census of 2000, there are 9,812 people, 3,808 households, and 2,600 families residing in the city. The population density is 509.2/km2 (1,318.0/mi2). There are 4,108 housing units at an average density of 213.2/km2 (551.8/mi2). The racial makeup of the city is 94.09% White, 0.54% African American, 1.32% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 1.14% from other races, and 2.01% from two or more races. 2.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,808 households out of which 37.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% are married couples living together, 14.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% are non-families. 26.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.09.

In the city the population is spread out with 29.1% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 17.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $29,849, and the median income for a family is $35,219. Males have a median income of $27,882 versus $18,655 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,589. 15.7% of the population and 13.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.2% of those under the age of 18 and 11.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Historically a Democratic leaning city, in recent years Webb City has begun to more closely reflect the areas Republican leanings. Nearly all of Jasper County can now be counted on for a strong Republican vote tally in national, statewide, and county elections. Webb City is known as one of the more progressive and moderate cities in the county, with both Republicans and Democrats holding seats on the city and school district level.

The Webb City R-7 School District is known statewide as a progressive and forward thinking institution and has been awarded for academic and athletic excellence.

During the late 1800's and early 1900's Webb City was the home of the worlds largest and most productive lead and zinc mining field.

Webb City is the hometown of NBC news reporter Lisa Myers and NFL Seattle Seahawk football player Grant Wistrom.

Webb City is also the home of Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Company, the largest privately owned scale manufacturer in the United States.

Webb City is home to Webb City Cardinal Pride Band, who participated in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade. The Jr. High Wind Ensamble performed in January 2005 at the anual conference of the Missouri Music Educator's Association. They premeired a song called "Loss" writen by Dr. Andrew Boysen.
